John is a 50-year-old male with a long history of homelessness and persistent mental health issues that have been a constant barrier to successful housing. John was able to access services through Micah’s Mission and with the help of shelter case managers he was able to be put on the list for Bright Sky Apartments.
After being accepted into Bright Sky Apartments John was set to move in. There were some hiccups in the beginning as the new environment and the move in process was tough for someone that has struggled for so long to find a safe place to call home. With a little help John was able to successfully complete the move in process and he is now the proud tenant of his own apartment.
Over the last few months John has begun coming out of his shell. He has made friends in the building and often enjoys going on bike rides or walks in the mornings. He can often be found outside enjoying the fresh air and summer sun that has been coming out slowly this year. He has also begun to trust staff in the building to the point that he has reached out to personally thank all the staff from Churches United for helping him in his journey. John makes a wonderful addition to the Bright Sky Community.
It is the generosity of volunteers and donors that keep Churches United operating. Their support is what allows us to continue providing shelter, housing, food, and a path toward healing for those who are hungry and homeless in the Fargo – Moorhead community.
