Project Homeless Connect
Wednesday,August 1, 2007
Fargo, Civic Center
Bringing the Fargo-Moorhead community together to create and promote tangible solutions that remedy homelessness for our neighbors.
What is Project Homeless Connect?
On any given night, over 1,000 people face homelessness in the Fargo-Moorhead community. Homeless people can be adults, young people, couples or families with children. They are living outdoors, in cars, abandoned buildings, tents, or emergency shelters.
They may be homeless because of an untreated mental illness, physical illness, disability, domestic violence, disaster, job loss, or an addiction. Some of these people may be experiencing a financial crisis, have been evicted from their home, and/or be cycling in and out of homelessness. Some are Long-term homeless, having lived on the streets for many months or even years.
These people feel alienated and alone, but help is on the way. Project Homeless Connect's mission is to provide an opportunity for the community to aid homeless people in receiving much needed services and support, at the same time gaining insight on how to end their plight of homelessness.
Project Homeless Connect (PHC) taps into the energy and commitment of individuals to help find creative solutions to end homelessness. PHC brings local service providers, community leaders, and volunteers together to provide our communities homeless citizens with individual attention and vital support services.
